This is a tree from the Imperial Gardens. Many of the cypress trees are ancient and were not allowed to grow higher than the royal dwellings, lest they eclipse the aura of the emperor. At least they are supposed to be cypress, Virginia was not present to verify if these are cypress trees. (Virginia was sorely missed in the botanical field!)
